An MMT Hectospec Redshift Survey of 24 μm Sources in the Spitzer First Look Survey
We present a spectroscopic survey using the MMT Hectospec fiberspectrograph of 24 μm sources selected with the Spitzer SpaceTelescope in the Spitzer First Look Survey. We report 1296 new redshiftsfor 24 μm sources, including 599 with fν(24μm)>=1 mJy. Combined with 291 additional redshifts for sourcesfrom the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), our observing program washighly efficient and is ~90% complete for i<=21 mag andfν(24 μm)>=1 mJy and 35% complete for i<=20.5 magand 0.3 mJy<=fν(24 μm)<1.0 mJy. Our Hectospecsurvey includes 1078 and 168 objects spectroscopically classified asgalaxies and QSOs, respectively. Combining the Hectospec and SDSSsamples, we find 24 μm-selected galaxies to zgal<=0.98and QSOs to zQSO<=3.6, with mean redshifts of=0.27 and =1.1. As part ofthis publication, we include the redshift catalogs and the reducedspectra; these are also available through the NASA/IPAC Infrared ScienceArchive. This work is based in part on observations made with the Spitzer SpaceTelescope, which is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,California Institute of Technology, under NASA contract 1407.

The SIRTF First-Look Survey. I. VLA Image and Source Catalog
The First-Look Survey (FLS) of the Space Infrared Telescope Facility(SIRTF) will cover about 5 deg2 centered on J2000.0α=17h18m, δ=+59°30' in order tocharacterize the extragalactic infrared sky 2 orders of magnitude deeperthan the IRAS survey. We expect that most of the FLS far-infrared(λ=160, 70, and 24 μm) sources will be star-forming galaxiesobeying the very tight far-infrared/radio correlation and will becontinuum radio sources with flux densities S>~100 μJy at ν=1.4GHz. Conversely, radio sources stronger than 100 μJy are usuallypowered by star-forming galaxies, plus some active galactic nuclei, andmost should be detectable by the SIRTF FLS. Thus, a sensitive radiosurvey can be used to select and identify most of the SIRTF FLS sourcepopulation before launch. We used the B configuration of the VLA to makean image of the FLS area at ν=1.4 GHz with σ~23 μJybeam-1 rms fluctuations, θ=5.0" resolution, andσα~σδ<~0.5" rmsuncertainties in right ascension and declination. The resulting radioimage and catalog of 3565 radio components with peak flux densitiesSp>=5 σ=115 μJy beam-1 have beenreleased via the Web to expedite follow-up optical identification andspectroscopy.
