HI observations of edge-on spiral galaxies
Neutral hydrogen observations with the 100-m Effelsberg radio telescopeare presented for 268 spiral galaxies from the Revised Flat GalaxyCatalog. Fluxes, radial velocities and line widths are given for 121detected galaxies, as well as search parameters for 147 undetectedobjects. Most of the detected galaxies are late type (Sbc - Sdm) spiralswith a mean M25/LB ratio of 2.5 in solar units.(M25 is the total mass within the 25^m/sq arcsec isophote)and a mean hydrogen mass fraction M_HI/M25 = 0.13.Correlations between global parameters are discussed briefly. Acomparison with a sample of nearby galaxies (within 10 Mpc) demonstratesthe validity of the same linear relation between the optical luminosity(LB) and the linear diameter (A25) down to thesmallest galaxies.

The 2MASS-selected Flat Galaxy Catalog
An all-sky catalog of 18020 disc-like galaxies is presented. Thegalaxies are selected from the Extended Source Catalog of the Two MicronAll-Sky Survey (XSC 2MASS) basing on their 2MASS axial ratio a/b ≥ 3.The Catalog contains data on magnitudes of a galaxy in the J, H,KS bands, its axial ratio, positional angle, index ofluminosity concentration, as well as identification of the galaxy withthe LEDA and the NED databases. Unlike the available optical catalogs, the new 2MFGC catalog seems to be more suitable to study cosmicstreaming on a scale of z <~ 0.1. The dipole moment of distributionof the bright (K < 11m) 2MFGC objects (l = 227°, b =41° or SGL = 90°, SGB = -43°) lies within statistical errors(±15°) in the direction of the IRAS dipole and the opticalRFGC dipole.

Arcsecond Positions of UGC Galaxies
We present accurate B1950 and J2000 positions for all confirmed galaxiesin the Uppsala General Catalog (UGC). The positions were measuredvisually from Digitized Sky Survey images with rms uncertaintiesσ<=[(1.2")2+(θ/100)2]1/2,where θ is the major-axis diameter. We compared each galaxymeasured with the original UGC description to ensure high reliability. The full position list is available in the electronic version only.

The Revised Flat Galaxy Catalogue.
We present a new improved and completed version of the Flat GalaxyCatalogue (FGC) named the Revised Flat Galaxy Catalogue (RFGC)containing 4236 thin edge-on spiral galaxies and covering the whole sky.The Catalogue is intended to study large-scale cosmic streamings as wellas other problems of observational cosmology. The dipole moment ofdistribution of the RFGC galaxies (l = 273 degr; b =+19 degr) lieswithin statistical errors (+/-10 degr) in the direction of the LocalGroup motion towards the Microwave Background Radiation (MBR).

Search and Redshift Survey for IRAS Galaxies behind the Milky Way and Structure of the Local Void
This is the third and final paper of our systematic visual search forIRAS galaxies behind the Milky Way at |b| <= 15 deg. This paperpresents a catalog of 950 IRAS galaxies with 60 mu m flux densitieslarger than 0.6 Jy located between l = 0 deg and 150 deg, of which 293are newly identified by this search. We made a redshift survey for theidentified galaxies and obtained new redshift data of 171 galaxies. Wealso present newly measured redshifts of 27 IRAS galaxies between l =150 deg and 225 deg at |b| <= 15 deg. In this paper we studied thestructure of the Local void using IRAS galaxies and galaxies from theThird Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies in the region l = 30deg--120 deg and b = -50 deg to +30 deg. The center of the Local voidturned out to be located at l ~ 60 deg, b ~ -15 deg, and cz ~ 2500 kms-1, and the size is about 2500 km s-1 along the direction toward thecenter.

Visual search for galaxies near the northern crossing of the Supergalactic Plane by the Milky Way
We have visually examined 12 Palomar red plates for galaxies at lowGalactic latitude b, where the Supergalactic Plane (SGP) is crossed bythe Galactic Plane (GP), at Galactic longitude l~135 deg. The catalogueconsists of 2575 galaxy candidates, of which 462 have major axisdiameter d>=0.8 arcmin (uncorrected for extinction). Galaxycandidates can be identified down to --b--~=0 deg. One of our galaxycandidates (J24=Dwingeloo 1) has recently been discovered independentlyat 21 cm by Kraan-Korteweg et al. as a nearby galaxy. Comparisons withthe structures seen in the IRAS and UGC catalogues are made. We comparethe success rate of identifying galaxies using the IRAS Point SourceCatalogue under different colour selection criteria. The criteria thatrequire both the 60- and 100-μm fluxes to be of high quality have thehighest probability of selecting a galaxy (with d>=0.6 arcmin), butat the expense of selecting a smaller number of galaxies in total.

Flat galaxy catalogue
A systematic search for disklike edge-on-galaxies with a diameter largerthan a = 40 arcsec and a major-to-minor axis ratio a/b greater than 7was carried out by means of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey and theESO/SERC survey. As a result, we present a new catalog of flat galaxies(FGC) containing 4455 objects and covering about 56 percent of the wholesky for the first time. The catalogue is assigned to study large-scalecosmic streamings and other problems of observational cosmology.
